Rachel Ewen is the owner of Sound Yarn & Fibre, a fibre arts business based on Gibson Street in downtown Parry Sound. Her work combines years of hands on making with thoughtful business building, shaped by family, health, and a strong sense of community.

Rachel’s path to opening a storefront did not follow a straight line. What began with early fibre work and online sales grew into a locally rooted business that now serves customers across Canada and internationally. Along the way, she has navigated the realities of small business ownership, from shipping disruptions and trade uncertainty to the challenges of scaling thoughtfully while staying grounded.

Rachel is also a recent recipient of support through the Parry Sound Area Founders Circle, winning $10,000,  where her work and approach were recognized as part of a broader effort to strengthen local entrepreneurship.
